Carver CX Standard Bushings Durometer Check

I recently stumbled upon some claims regarding the durometer of the Carver CX standard bushings. Owning two pairs of Carver CX trucks myself I wanted to dig a bit deeper here.

The Durometer Check

So I picked up an affordable digital shore durometer. I made some measurements on various wheels I had around to get an idea of the process and to check if the shore durometer works correctly. After that I tested the standard bushings I replaced on my own Carver CX trucks.

One set of bushings came from a complete acquired in Europe, the other one from a pair of trucks I bought in the US.

None of the bushings were used. I prefer to ride a combination of other bushing (types) which I will present in another article soon. So my Carver CX bushings were more or less left overs from customization and can be considered new.

Test Results

In contrast to the reports on reddit all my bushings showed perfectly fine test results. Carver specifies the standard bushings at 89A. My bushings were just right on spot. I also tested other bushings I had around and they were also perfectly fine.

I think the claim that Carver stock bushings having a bad hardness can be considered wrong. At least I couldn’t validate it in my testing. If 89A is right for you, no need to replace them.

More Testing

If you have any other ideas which parts to test that way, please let me know about it in the comments. I will do the test if possible and post the results on my blog.
